Transform and Roll Out

Well, several tid bits of news for you today.

I am heading to Ottawa tomorrow… Wait… That’s not what’s most pressing. Try this again….

My back is frikkin’ killing me right now. I’m walking around like a 90 year-old (I can relate to why old folks walk the way they do), and extended periods of sitting (which is comfortable) or laying down (also comfortable) reduce the elasticity in my lower back to near zero. I have fortuitously (or perhaps otherwise) scheduled a massage appointment with my RMT later today, and now she’ll finally be able to experience the reason why I’ve been going to see her on a monthly basis. I called her last night and asked if it would still be useful for me to attend, and after a brief chat I think she’s actually excited to see what I’ve been talking about all this time. And I don’t think it can be any worse, really, so this should be beneficial.

I am heading to Ottawa tomorrow, and hope my back is in better shape by Friday. I am going to be at a wine festival there from Friday through Sunday, which involves copious amounts of time standing on unforgiving concrete floors. Sometime during my trip (barring immobility) I hope to be able to wander the city some and take some pictures. I love Ottawa. I think it has so much pride and substance. Clearly it’s to do with the government, but regardless Ottawa is interesting, cultural, historic and diverse.

Upon my return on Monday to Calgary, I will barely have time to do laundry before heading to the other side of the country for a wine festival in Whistler, BC. I like Whistler and hope to get a good impression of how that town is preparing for the Olympics, which are, as of this post, only 100 days away.

A few days after I return from Whistler, I’ll be off to Toronto for yet another festival, though this time instead of standing at a booth for 8-hour segments I’ll be attending it as a spectator. A guerrilla spectator at that. See, the Toronto festival is owned by our closest Canadian competitor, and as of a couple of years ago they prohibited us from exhibiting at their show, irrespective of whether we paid to participate or not. So now we just attend and see all the people we want to see anyway. Haven’t been kicked out yet…

From Toronto, I’ll fly to Las Vegas, where I will meet my wife who will be there already, attending a marketing conference. We’re staying for a couple of extra days after her conference to enjoy the city, take in a show or two, and hopefully enjoy some pleasant weather.

By then it will be almost December.

I have a couple of fun posts in the works that I look forward to sharing with you when they’re done. Truth be told, I haven’t had a ton of time to work on my blog lately, and when I have had the time, I haven’t had the energy. Somewhere in there things will merge and posts will publish. Promise.
