OK, So Here’s What Happened

Found some terrific background on what a patellar tendon tear is. If you’re squeamish, maybe don’t click or read further.

Adam Cohen MD – Patellar Tendon Tear

Referring to my Operative Documentation that I received from my surgeon’s office yesterday, here’s a bit more on my situation:

Date of Operation: April 19, 2026 16:00

Preoperative Diagnosis/Indications: Ruptured right patellar tendon

Preoperative Consultation: blah, blah, blah… Physical examination today show a healthy man (woohoo!) resting in bed. Examination of the right knee shows obvious effusion. He has tenderness to patella tendon. There is a palpable gap. He is unable to actively extend his knee. Calf is soft. Distal neurovascular status is intact.

X-rays show patella Alta. Ultrasound report confirms a ruptured right patellar tendon.

This man requires surgical repair of his right ruptured patellar tendon. blah, blah, blah… Recovery time is in the area of 6 months.

Operative Report: blah, blah, blah… lots of medical jargon and tmi… Patient tolerated the procedure well and there were no complications (woohoo!).
