Over Done

Today was a weird day. I broke out of the house for my first non-hospital visit in a month and went grocery shopping with my wife and son. It was so delightful! No really, it’s one of my happy places. ‘Exhilarating’ I think I called it.

So that was great. And I made some great coffees this morning, and I ran the vacuum and cleaned the bathrooms. Much more in line with my normal weekend productivity.

But of course that led me to exhaustion and upon coming home I slept for an hour, and have been in a funk ever since. My in-laws were here, my kids were being goofballs and I just wasn’t having any of it.

Something about being trapped in bed (where I already spend most of my life these days) or trying to manage the circus – whatever it was, it was too much.

I either overdid it today and became fatigued, or finally getting out and doing stuff and then coming home to the mundanity was a big let down. The more I think about it, the more I think it is the former, because the idea of doing anything at all right now is tiring. I just want to sleep.

This afternoon, after my nap, I also determined that For All Mankind is a terribly boring TV show. The premise is interesting, but it’s just so slow and uneventful, and the acting isn’t very good. I made it halfway through season 2 and I’m ready to pull the plug.

Earlier this year I binged Silo, Pluribus and Paradise – all quite entertaining. Luckily I have a couple more shows to line up and help pass the boredom of the next 3+ (++?) weeks.
