Ride: September 17, 2013 – Final Rehab Ride (Stanley Park, UBC)

I put a few more miles on and ramped up the intensity today to see how my back is improving. Stiffness, soreness throughout but moderate, and I was able to protect it by tightening my core and tucking my tailbone. Tonight it’s a bit tender with isolated pain in the area where I strained the muscle. I had a physio appointment later this afternoon and discussed it with my therapist – she’s of the mind that I can do Sunday’s 140km Tour de Victoria as long as I don’t push too hard. She helped release my tight deltoids and we worked on my range of motion. Overall, it was a great ride with pleasant – if fall-like – conditions. Overcast and cool, but zero precipitation and believe it or not, some sunny breaks.
